KAUKAUNA — Several student athletes have received consequences following their involvement in what school officials are calling “two related behavioral incidents” connected to the boys’ basketball team.

In order to protect student privacy rights, the district provided the following statement, and said they will not provide further comment.

“Kaukauna High School Administration recently became aware of two related student behavioral incidents involving members of the Boys’ Basketball Program.  Following District protocols, Administration along with law enforcement immediately began an investigation.  Several student-athletes have received consequences based on their individual actions. Their behaviors do not reflect the values of the Kaukauna Boys’ Basketball Program, of Kaukauna High School, or of the Kaukauna Area School District.

Due to confidentiality and student privacy rights, the District cannot provide further details regarding this matter.”

NBC 26 in Green Bay reported Friday that the incident stems from racial slurs among members of the basketball program.

The disciplinary action comes on the eve the the varsity boys basketball WIAA post-season tournament.

The Ghosts are set to host Bay Port tonight at 7 p.m. at Kaukauna High School.
