KAUKAUNA — A 58-year-old man faces a possible fifth-offense OWI after police say he crashed his car Monday after driving through a roundabout.

Kaukauna officers were sent about 1:30 p.m. Monday to the area of the I-41 northbound off ramp to CTH J / Lawe St. for a crash involving a car that appeared to have driven through the roundabout and ended up in the ditch.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle and the 58-year-old driver.

Police say they suspected the driver was under the influence, and based on the observations on scene and the performance on the field sobriety tests, placed the man under arrest, according to a news release.

Police say this would be a fifth offense operating while intoxicated charge for the driver.

In their report, police say the driver appeared to exit I-41 and not slow down much when he reached the top of the round-a-bout at Lawe St. and continued at a high speed over the center of the roundabout and crashed into the ditch on the other side.

The driver was booked into Outagamie County Jail and faces a possible charge of 5th offense OWI.

He also was cited failing to keep vehicle under control.
