KAUKAUNA — Standout Kaukauna High School kicker Gavin Lahm isn’t going far from home to play football, announcing on Twitter that he has committed to the UW Badgers as a preferred walk on with the 2022 class.

Lahm went 9-of-13 on field goals last year for the Ghosts, according to his Hudl video, and also had 30 touchbacks on 73 kickoffs.

His season highlight was a personal best 50-year field goal in November during a win over Germantown.

The Ghosts went 6-0 in a pandemic-shortened season, and forfeited their only playoff game because of COVID precautions.

Lahm excelled in two specialists camps put on by the Badgers, winning the punting competition both times.

“I couldn’t be more excited, proud and honored to be joining an amazing football program and team while gaining an excellent education,” Lahm wrote on Twitter.

As a preferred walk on, Lahm will have a guaranteed roster spot with a chance to earn a scholarship in later years.
