WASHINGTON D.C. — A Wisconsin Congresswoman has joined six other Democratic lawmakers in calling on President Joe Biden to push for another round of stimulus checks.

Rep. Gwen Moore of Milwaukee, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, signed the letter last month calling for a fourth and fifth round of direct payments to assist people with housing, food and other payments.

“Recurring direct payments have wide support from both the general public and economic experts,” read the letter. “Polling shows 65 percent of Americans support recurring cash payments ‘for the duration of the pandemic.’ This includes support from 54 percent of Republicans and 60 percent of independents.”

The last round of $1,400 payments barely passed and Republicans are highly unlikely to support any future payments, so chances of passage are slim at best.
